Lessie B. Price, Manager of Public Affairs/Government Affairs, URS Corporation
Lessie B. Price currently serves as Manager of Public Affairs/Government Affairs for the URS Corporation, a Fortune 500 company and global provider of engineering, construction and environmental management and technical services. She is responsible for providing public affairs assistance and building strategic relationships with government, academic, environmental and corporate stakeholders.
Price has over 40 years of experience in the public relations, human resources and stakeholders involvement arena. She managed the Environmental Justice Program in accordance with Executive Order 12898 for Washington Group International, (now URS) and worked directly with colleges and universities, community organizers, governmental officials and other stakeholders to address environmental concerns and education in disenfranchised communities. Price was also involved with the development of the DOE Environmental Justice 5 year implementation Plan.
In addition to her professional involvement, Price is currently an elected member of the Aiken City Council and has served for 25 years. She is the first female to run for public office in the City of Aiken and elected at-large. She has also served as Mayor Pro-Tempore of Aiken.
Over her career, she has volunteered her time and talent serving on more than 50 boards and committees addressing issues on the local, state and national levels ranging from Health Care, Education, Juvenile Justice, Lending Institutions, Arts and Culture, Municipal and Government concerns, care for our elderly population, health and environmental concerns and job creation for our next generation of workers in the STEMS area.
She currently serves on the Environmental Management Advisory Board (appointed by U. S. Secretary of Energy Steven Chu), Lower Savannah Council of Government Board, Chair of the Youth Committee for LSCOG Workforce Development Board, The South Carolina Commission on Higher Education Foundation Board, The S. C. State Chamber of Commerce Tourism Board, Dollars for Scholars Board-former Chair, The Aiken Junior International Invitational PGA Golf Tournament Board, Aiken Family Y Board, The Graniteville Redevelopment Board, The Augusta Chamber of Commerce Women In Business Board, Aiken Corporation Board, S. C. Municipal Incorporation Board, The Claflin University Board of Visitors Board and National Environmental Justice Board. Price was elected by her peers to serve as State President of the Municipal Association of SC representing more than 260 cities in the State. She has also served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Aiken Regional Medical Center and the National School-to-Work Advisory committee to name a few.
Price has received recognition from more than 50 organizations on the local, state and national level for her dedication and commitment for her professional civic and community involvement over the past 40 years. She has been a resident of the City of Aiken for 50 years. She and her husband William are active members of the Friendship Baptist Church and the parents of five sons.
